How it went

Forty people were invited to Matteo's baptism. Without a list, the usual things would have shown up in triplicate. His parents wrote down what was actually needed, from first-size clothes to things for the nursery, and put the link on the invitation. Every guest could see what had already been taken, and the house filled up only with things that got used.
